Is it today that we’ll see Jesus
The day we hear the trumpet call?
The day appointed by the Father,
The ransomed with their Lord at last.
Is it today the graves will open?
Awakening for those who sleep in Christ.
Is this the day when all the faithful
See the promise of the Father revealed at last?
Or do we wait a little longer?
In eternity it’s just the blinking of an eye,
Patiently looking to the heavens,
Lamps trimmed and ready for the call.
Good works that can be seen,
These are the Christian’s light.
Works God prepared for us, well done,
Bringing glory to the Father and pleasing to his son.
But works and thoughts, quite out of sight
That only God can see,
Are beaten olives crushed for oil,
Provision for the night.
